What a great Christmas Eve! It was great to see everyone, but next year I hope Darrell is minus pain. Good luck to Dan and Darrell in the next few months. At 2:00 the snowflakes were as big as dinner plates, almost. We ran outside with colored paper to catch as many as we could. As the flakes melted we traced the wet spots to measure our finds! Sorry to say they melted outside in about 20 minutes.

A. Connie. I hosted an Advent Tea table at church on Friday night and wanted to share a picture. I used Aunt Alice's china and napkins and everyone commented on how beautiful it was. It was fun to get it all out and see it on an actual table instead of in the hutch! Also I added a picture of Gwen with her teacher when Ms. Eagloski came to visit and a nutty one of the kids just for kicks. Have a great Monday!

Got a 7 point up in Owendale this morning about 10:30. Funny story. Some young hen turkeys were practicing their calling and annoyed a group of 4-5 does that were snoozing not far from me. I guess the does just wanted to move somewhere quieter to get away from the hens. Next thing you know I've got does everywhere and then this buck comes through to check them out. MR

Arrived here in Jackson at the Cabot Lodge B&B, 10 minutes from the River Hills Club, 55 degrees and rain most of the trip. Got a glimpse of live oak tree canopies and grand old homes in Mobile, Alabama...also truckloads of sweet potatoes along the way, hope we can find some on the menu tonight. Maybe Dan could grow a few vines...Hugs to all!

We took a color tour to Petosky. Thought we would spend the night in Traverse City, big mistake. Every room in town was full with a soccer tournament and color tour crazies. The color was the best between Gaylord and Grayling. I hope the trip to Florida was a safe one. Sounds like Darrell came out pretty lucky.

NO surgery!!!!!
I will look like Quzimoto for the rest of my life. The rotator-cuff looks ok for now. They are going to have me check back in a couple weeks. But the bone will always stick up and sound like grinding gravel. Nothing they will do for it. I pulled my bow back tonight. It wasn't easy and I probably wont like the feeling tomorrow. But by Saturday I plan on hunting. Vicondin comes in 30 packs!!!!

You all have an early case of BUCK FEVER! MSU press box seats (7th floor of the new tower), what a view! Farmers picked a lot of corn to build the stadium expansion! Capacity 75,005, 24 suites, & 193-seat press box. Sparty was 'relocated' to the atrium, in front of the elevators! Quite impressive, then we called Ash...she had to work. So much for siding the house, bow hunting or much of anything else for awhile. Crashed the quad tonight. X-Rays show a seperated clavacal/torn AC. Possible torn rotator-cuff too. Have to waite and see what the MRI shows next week if I need butchering. I can't belive the the bone sticking out of my right shoulder is going to fix itself!

We found a piece of HCP history: Norton Park d. Sept 17, 1862 and is buried in the Rose Twp Cemetery, section 3 (1924 DAR Cemetery Book). Also Lovell Park, son of N & M Park, d. Mar 2, 1852, age 3 mo. No other Park or Parks in any of the Rose Twp cemeteries. Source: Research Librarian Oakland Co Pioneer & Historical Society, Pontiac.

Josh had an awesome fifth birthday. He took treats to school and was excited with all of the birthday goodies his teacher had for him. We went to Red Robin and they sang happy birthday. Josh shared his sunday with everyone but he got to eat the "cherry on top" that he'd been waiting for all day. He was just so excited about the whole thing. Thanks so much for the cards and the birthday money, etc. Thank yous will come soon with lots of pictures from the big kid party on Saturday. Well the Mexico travelers made it home safe, half of them returned sick. Kris and Ash included, either food poisioning or the flu. Both were much better by last night. They had the house built by Wednesday. All in all, was a very successful trip. The next two weeks will be crazy, as they both prepare to move. I will be glad when September gets here. Hope they get things figured out with Gayland.

We had an awesome trip, Wesley house is totally repainted inside, new kitchen counter & sink, new ceiling tiles in the basement. We had a couple picnics near the lake, no swimming-the water temp was 45 degrees!! Kris is in Texas this week, the wedding is saturday. The quilt was great, she worked on that thing for an entire year. Didn't get her patience from me:) Lena would be proud!!

Caught a few fish on the AuSable. Pretty darn good weather for opening weekend. Sure was nice to have company in fish camp for once. Kind of roughing it though with only a 9" TV and no pay-per-view service on the dish.

I just got back from Bay City visiting Gayland. It sounds like he may be coming home late Tuesday. I don't know how since they won't let him go to the bathroom by himself. By noon he had taken 15 pills and was administered an injection with lunch. He is worried about paying the bills piled up while he has been gone. I wanted to talk to the social worker but she wouldn't be in until Monday. I took him an Easter bunny, sugarfree candy and a puzzle game. We all need to be thankful for our health even if it isn't perfect. He is having threapy 3 hours a day but has a long way to go to even get up the steps to his house. Say a prayer for Gayland.

I took the day off of work yesterday and we went to Castaway Cafe in Howell which is a big indoor playland. Brandy, Josh, and Josie met us there as well as my friend Elizabeth and her three girls. I also took the boys to Red Robin last night so they could sing Happy Birthday to Drew and give him free ice cream. He was shy, but am sure he was happy to not see the BIG red robin come to his table (something about adults dressed up in character costumes freaks him out!). We had a very good day - unfortunately, I forgot to take my camera to both places. Thank you for the cards! Drew already used his birthday money to buy a new Peter Pan pirate ship! Yes!!! the power came back on at 1:30pm. The power turned on just before Dan arrived and off 45 minutes after he left??? We had a nice visit. The night was cold, but Lew got the furnace connected to the generator in the morning. First priority was the Red Wings game! The house didn't really get cold until 2am. The wind is still 30mph and snowing on and off. We are going for a ride just to get out of the house. Repair trucks were all around Owendale last night. I hope and pray that the power stays on. Be thankful for hot coffee and a warm shower!

Spottie took a walk by himself today, he pushed the screen door open and followed me on my bikeride to the mailbox. I met him before he turned out of our villas onto the main road...a nice man in a golfcart gave him a ride home.

As I sat preparing my lesson for the childrens' sermon while listening to the weather forecast...I dug out the ole' snowshoes! Needless to say many memories came out as Lew said he had bought them when he was 18. Fresh snow made me think of all of the times the Parks' boys went bunny hunting. My favorite memories were of my first Parks experience of fox hunting. Dan was still a teenager and I was a young city gal who couldn't believe anyone in the right mind would call standing in freezing weather with gun in hand waiting on the road to spot the fox or the hound. Then Chester came into our lives and the sport of fox hunting was a natural occurance. Gosh, I feel old, but the showshoes look great and ready for incoming weather. Keep us posted on the weather near you.

Good Morning, 58 degrees here. Look at famous ancestors, our 10th Great Grandfather John Howland (1599-1672) was traced through Mom's family, Pauline Townsend Hart of Howell...John was a Mayflower Passenger...The smell of the hardwood burning is filtering through this 'puter!

Good Morning, It is 26.7 degrees right now and the flowers are covered up...Our tennis league plays at 8:00 if the temp is above 40... So how was the rodeo? A. Connie...funny you should ask about the camera. Joshua loves to take it with us in the car...flash flash flash as I'm driving. He took a whole series of photos of his nutcracker after Christmas and has documented every detail of our house with it...the arm of a chair, dad's shoe sitting around, the back of my head, etc.

Alissa, I think I heard about that awhile ago..the migrating birds. The scientists followed the flock the entire way and even dressed up in bird costumes. Not exactly how I'd want to spend my fall!

They were talking on NPR the other morning about the 18 whooping cranes that they worked really hard to get to migrate to Florida and all survived. Then 16 of them died in the storm. They are an endangered species and it was one of the only times that all had survived the migration after being in captivity. Sad story.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAN!!! There would be lots of work here for you and your carpenters... We drove down to checkout the damage...The homes and recreation centers looked like a war zone covered over with blue tarps...some palm trees laying on the ground but all debris was gone, streets were clear...quick work by local construction crews, volunteers, and a few inmates from the Marion County Jail (identifiable by their green & white striped jumpsuits).

Cousin Aileen (hammer dulcimer) leaves for Israel on Thursday...trying to sell her 'mobile' and move back to a new home in Midland, should have buyers in this area... Cute kids...44 degrees here, football weather! Headlines show tarps over some of the 1500 damaged homes...we sure were lucky. Many friends & family have been checking on us, they didn't know there were 100,000 acres and 65,000 residents in The Villages. Top story is about a Villager being reunited with her dog that saved her life, a 9 year old chocolate lab named Mocha! Have a good day!

Hello, Dr said his leg (knee) is a mess...He will have an appointment with his family doctor on Wed. He is doing much better than we or he expected. He hopped in his car and drove to the bank today. Frank has a direct flight Flint to Orlando on Sunday. Tonight he was walking downtown in 15 degree weather. I mowed the lawn today... Have a good weekend!

Lew and I went to visit Gayland. He is packing a new piece of equipment a defibrulator. We had a nice conversation and the doctors had been in to check his progress. The X-ray of his right leg has not been read yet. The leg is slightly red with some swelling at the knee and ankle. The pain occurs when he tries to stand up and walk. I suggested a rental bed for down stairs until he is stronger. He has to limit the lifting with his left arm until the incision heals. He has a great neighbor who will pick him up as soon as he can break out of the fourth floor! By the time our visit was over he was tired. He said that he heart is working at a rate of 22%. Our prayers are with him. I left my number in the room if he needed additional help.
