Simmering a pot of 15 bean soup on the stove, will be adding a beautiful ham bone! Pasties last night were excellent, guess we'll have to wait for venison in the Spring...going swimming later, I am just fine, and Frank went for a run so he is good too! Have a nice day!

Thank you Nan for a wonderful Christmas dinner, you always do too much! I suggest that next year things will be different with retirement and that you let us help bring part of the meal. The time has come to think about just exchangiing names for presents with the exception of children. Maybe the white elephant gift exchange would work? My goal today is to find a good place to start one of the new puzzles.

Had a good visit in Bay City. The house is decorated in every corner! Thanks to Kelly...Gayland is doing pretty good, we walked with him down the backstairs, checked out his stash in the basement...retrieved a few videos and 3 Civil War items...Have a great day! Thought you might like to know what's growing in our hybiscus flower pots...frost expected this weekend, what to do? Dump out the frogs and put the plants in the garage (for 1 week), leave the frogs and cover the pots (for 1 week)...or read more about controlling them...

Just visited Aunt Mary tonight. She is doing good. Should be going home tomorrow. The doc said all is good but her sugar was bouncing up and down a little. Never did ask why she was there. She really is doing good! She remembered all of us. Her memory is great. Asked how and what every one is doing. She knew better than me about the last time Mom and I visited her when she was still at the trailer. Talked about me working in Chatham and the old stone house. Kinda wished I visited her sooner last week. Can't belive how much she looks like Mom. Maybe it's the wrinkles! Still laughing and happy.

I called the home today. They are keeping Mary at the hospital for another night. I will check back tomorrow. I installed internet for a customer today that use to work with Ed. They owned a sawmill in Chatham in the 40s. He (I don't have the guys name with me now) said they had a daughtor that was pretty good looking. Not sure who that would have been. He is 85 and in better shape than I an. Keep you jokes to yourself! I also have a lead on a woman (Gladis?) that use to live in the stone house. Will find out more tomorrow.

One more thing, Darry found Grandma Gravelle's house in Chatham and sent pix. He said it was near where he was working at the TDS office. Also found the cemetery, Grandma Grace's stone would be under the snow, but Ed's marker that Uncle Jalmer carved would be visible, also it has a WWI memorial marker. Don't work too hard Darry!

The funeral was super nice with a packed church. Even i liked the message and music and military salute. I am sure the family are exausted. The only negative i saw was nick got into the wine a bit heavy.

Got some bad news. Sue's dad (Frank Zdrojkowski) passed away last night. Funeral services will be at Case Funeral Home in Saginaw. Wednesday veiwing will be from 2:00 to 6:00. Thursday 2:00 to 8:00 with a memory time (stories?) at 4:00. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00. There will be a short veiwing from 10:00 to 11:00 for those who couldn't make the others. After the funeral, there will be a short Military honor. Then a lunchen before going to the cemitary. Good Morning, Mowed the lawn yesterday and Frank watered the new trees (20 min daily for 1 month). I put the big wreath on the front door, our Chadwick neighbors Ray & Marie gave it to us last year, not knowing we would have a place to hang it this year. Need to add a few ornaments to it and find a bow for the lamp post, that's it for us! We'll enjoy Nan's tree and the Snow Village when we get there! Have a good weekend!

Dad's fine, he finished all of the farming that could possibly be done before he left so he won't have to feel guilty thinking about all of the things he should be doing. Plus I promised to check/stock the corn and straw, feed the chickens, and feed the cats their canned food, so all will be taken care of.

Lots of deer in Walhala. Mark had a 10 point at 10 yards. He just finished hanging his stand but didn't have his bow with him. He is still crying! I had 2 different 6 pointers and 6 does and dinks in range. Not another hunter all weekend. At home tonight I had a different 3 point on 1 side buck come in. Also had 5 dinks on the pile. 3 other does went to the pond for a drink. Starting to clear some of the beans and corn off here. Still waiting for an 8!

Sprinklers came on at 10pm as scheduled, 5 stations run 45 minutes each, 2 run 30 minutes, on Wednesdays...the grass got a good drink...all sprinkler heads are now in tip-top shape...gas lines marked...just have to wait for the trees...you guys know all about planting trees...it's a good thing! Tonight is how bow season is supose to be like. 3 does and 3 dinks under the stand. Oh ya, and 1 6 point. He is big. But 1 antler is normal. But the right one goes straight down past his jaw. Very tempting. But he's not an 8 point! I got to let my bow down and climb out of the stand before they ran off. Pretty nice! Maybe I will get one in Walhala this weekend.

Yup, we finally caught one, a big laker! At 2:30 this afternoon in Lake Michigan off Charlevoix, in about 150 feet of water, ball set at 125 feet. Got the pix but didn't get the length...too much to think about...then released him.

I am not a fishing guide but after reading several posts i do have a suggestion. You have caught a lot of sunsets but not vey good eating. why not trying to catch some sunrises,most of the action will be early in the day i think. You need to be on the water and fishing by 5-6 am. This is for you,not me

Nothing exciting here. Fished 2 rivers, 1 lake and the bay. My undersized pike is the only fish cought. Nothing like the story you guys have. I hope she didn't hurt or loose that lure. Someday Kenton may return. I still have a box of table-fare packed away!

yea yea Harold, you had to show off. Here is the real story. She cast at least 100 times to that fish before he took her hand made $75 Kenton 125 year old lure. After having fighting it for 35 minutes with several tremendous leaps and 4 good runs stripping line,she hand landed it as this fish was way to big for the wimpy net Rose brought. TOP THAT! (you can tell the tigs are losing)

Mark and I fished Hollaway today. Caught a few Walleye, Catfish, Bass, Perch, Pike and Crappie. Pretty good day. Started out for Saginaw Bay at 3:30 am. But turned off 75 at 57 chickening out because of wind! It was a little choppy in the main basin. But nice in the chanel. Turned out smooth as glass by mid afternoon.

Our yard & fence
Ok take a look at our yard, and note the clean fence. I had to work around the holly bushes. Every piece of cactus we've dropped in this little garden is growing...and the jasmine is as healthy as on the Florida trail...
